What this treats
The under-eye area changes with age in three ways: skin loses collagen and gets crepey, fat pads thin and the orbital rim shows through as a hollow, and microvasculature gets more visible as a bluish or purplish cast. PRP under-eye rejuvenation addresses two of the three: it stimulates collagen and improves the quality of the overlying skin, and it adds a modest amount of volume through tissue-level signaling. It does not erase a deep tear-trough hollow. For that, filler is the more direct tool.
How it works
We draw a small amount of your blood, centrifuge it to concentrate platelets, and use a precise micro-injection technique to place that concentrate into the dermis under the eye. The growth factors carried by the platelets recruit fibroblasts and stimulate collagen and elastin production over the following weeks. Because the injectate is your own tissue, there is no foreign-material risk, no allergy risk, and no permanence to undo.
What the timeline looks like
Most patients see improvement in skin quality, brightness, and fine-line texture starting in the third to fourth week. The fuller effect builds across two to three months as collagen remodels. Most people do an initial series of two or three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart, then a maintenance treatment every nine to twelve months.
Downtime and what to expect
Mild swelling and bruising under the eyes for one to three days is typical. We use very fine needles and a careful technique to minimize both. You can wear makeup the next day. Strenuous workouts and heavy heat (sauna) wait 24 to 48 hours.
Who’s a candidate
Patients who want a natural improvement in under-eye skin quality and brightness, who don’t want filler, or who want to try PRP before considering filler. Patients on blood thinners, with active skin infection in the area, or with a bleeding disorder should not have this treatment. We’ll talk through your specific case at consult.
How this fits with the rest of the aesthetics program
PRP under-eye pairs well with Emface for the patient working on facial collagen broadly, with microneedling for skin texture, and with hormone optimization for the underlying physiology of skin aging. See the full aesthetics program for how we sequence treatments.
